Coca-Cola

Coca- Cola

Really nice on a hot day..
but as we have seen not so great on the teeth.

I personally gave up all different types of sodas to save not only my teeth but on the mission to lose weight.

 Water is my best friend!

So do you want to stop drinking coke?
Want to get rid of the temptation?
Don’t throw it out!
We can put this to great use.

Your husband will love you for this:

You could get rid of that grease stain in the middle of his beloved garage by pouring coke straight on the stain. let it sit for a couple of hours.
( but be sure to keep an eye out for the ants … they don’t care too much about their teeth ..lol)

Have orange trees?  Do this to have sweet oranges before you pick up your next batch:
Pour Coke at the base of the trees followed by water so the ants don’t trail.

Limescale on shower head or kettle ?
leave it in coke overnight.

Hope you can kick the habit and save your teeth.

Pam Cooking Spray

Pam Cooking Spray

Who hasn’t used cooking spray at least once to make their life easier?

It deems healthier than some butters and oils and makes it so easy to keep your cookies, cakes and muffins from sticking to their pans. After all with those yummy smelling treats who has time to scrape pans?

We have come across other uses for that faithful Ol’ Can

Ladies Did you know PAM cooking spray will help dry your nail polish?  Try it!

Ride a bike?   Is your bicycle chain sticking?  Out of WD40?
Go ahead spray it with PAM.

Squeaky door hinges?  Attach the annoying sound with PAM.
Now that we have that covered go and make me some muffins!  Please ;)

Do you have any other tips or tricks you can do with PAM or any other cooking sprays? Please leave a comment.

The Many Uses Of Toothpaste

Did you know that toothpaste isn’t only for your teeth?

Now I don’t think the toothpaste companies know what miracle cream they have created.

 (besides making our teeth whiter)

For Many years I watched my mother use toothpaste as an ointment for burns (read my last post).

I also watched my mother wash her jewellery with a toothbrush and see how beautifully her rings and chains would shine afterwards. It really does wonders on silver. I still clean my rings with the old colgate and I even keep a special toothbrush just for that.

But that’s not all a good non gel toothpaste can do….

SHOES:
You can remove scuff of your leather shoes by just rubbing the marks with a soft cloth and clean your white sneakers too.

BATHROOM:
Clean the chrome taps and bathroom sink with toothpaste and a dry cloth.
Coat the bathroom mirror with the paste then wipe off before entering your shower to prevent the mirror from fogging. Now gentlemen you will be able to see your face for a good shave.

LAUNDRY:
Remove lipstick and ink stains off your clothes by rubbing it into the stain and rinsing your piece of clothing off with warm water.

BEAUTY:
So you have a date tomorrow or prom and there goes a pimple dead in the center of your forehead. Don’t panic just take your non-gel toothpaste and dab it on the pimple (after you have washed your face) and go to bed.
Promise when you wake up it will barely be visible.

So don’t forget toothpaste not only keeps your teeth white and breath smelling fresh , you can also use it all around the house for those little mishaps.

Do you know of any other uses for toothpaste?
please feel free to leave a comment.

Burns

Lovely weather

Its time for a BBQ!  You get the charcoal or wood chips lit up.
You’re excited that the meat has been seasoned.

You have the potatoes boiling on the stove for that yummy potato salad. You are now cooking. Minutes later you reach to flip that burger and...

OUCH!

A little too close to the fire and burn your arm

So just take it like a man!!
Just Kidding you do what even the strongest man does...

You run to put cold water on the area, but after you pull your arm away from the cool water ,you still feel that throbbing burning

Here’s what you can do:

Pat dry the area of the burn.
Go to your restroom get your minty toothpaste ,squeeze a dime sized amount on the burn and feel it instantly start to cool down the area.

The same cooling feeling you feel in your mouth after brushing your teeth will be the same feeling that will help you cope with the pain.

It will not only feel better it will also stop your skin from bubbling up.
Toothpaste isn’t only for making your breath smell good.

Please stay tuned to my next post for other uses for toothpaste.

I hope this tip saves you if you get burned
 ( Hopefully you dont)

Now enjoy your BBQ and dont forget to save me a plate :)

But if the food is hot and your burn your tongue...
put sugar on it! It really works!

Fresh Flowers That Last

Ahhh!!! Spring is here!!!

Well sort of here in London.
To he honest we still seem to be stuck in Winter. The weather seems to be on the state of confusion and plant life tends to suffer because of this.

Although we don’t have to be outside to enjoy the smell of lovely flowers, we can always hit up the Sunday market or even the supermarket to pick up a nice bundle of fresh flowers.  We take it home enjoy the beauty and the lovely smells but for not to long, we wake up one morning only to find our roses wilted and looking like someone took a lighter to the petals.

Worry NO MORE!!!!

Here is a tip to keep those lovely flowers lasting for even longer than what that lil packet stuck with tape can.
It is very easy…..

To keep fresh flowers longer this is what you will need:
Clorox (bleach)
2 Bayer Aspirin
7- up soda (pop) or Sprite

1.Take the vase you are going to use and fill it about halfway with 7Up instead of water.
2.Drop a small cap full of Clorox into the soda
3. Crush the 2 bayer aspirins and drop in the solution as well.
4.Stir
5. Take the flowers (of your choice) and cut the stem diagonally then drop it into the vase and set the vase somewhere cool with natural lighting

*** Caution: Be sure to keep solution away from pets or children

HOMEMADE MOSQUITO TRAP:

Items needed:

1 cup of water
1/4 cup of brown sugar
1 gram of yeast
1 2-liter bottle

HOW:
1. Cut the plastic bottle in half.
2. Mix brown sugar with hot water. Let cool. When cold, pour in the bottom half of the bottle.
3. Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.
4. Place the funnel part, upside down, into the other half of the bottle, taping them together if desired.
5. Wrap the bottle with something black, leaving the top uncovered, and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering area. (Mosquitoes are also drawn to the color black.)

Change the solution every 2 weeks for continuous control

I hate Mosquitoes !!! Hope this article helps to enjoy the summer bliss.

Buying Gas The Smart Way.

TIPS ON PUMPING GAS.....

I don't know what you guys are paying for gasoline.... but here in California we are paying up to $3.75 to $4.10 per gallon. My line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon:

Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline.. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.

Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.

A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.
To have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers. It's really simple to do.
I'm sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)...and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers !!!!!!! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If It goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. How long would it take?

Who doesn't like candles?

Who Doesn’t Like candles?

Well unless you have pyrophobia (fear of fire) or have had a traumatic experience with wax, chances are you love candles. I LOVE candles …although I must confess I am a bit of a pyro.

(Don’t worry I don’t burn things I shouldn’t)

When you go to the store to buy candles you come across some very great smelling candles and you can find them to go along with any theme like apples and cinnamon for Christmas, pumpkin for Thanksgiving or Halloween etc etc.

Sometimes the price tags on those candles can cause a heart attack, well with Yankee Candle being one of the very best it can be costly, and Glade doesn’t seem to forgive.

I never will forget when Wal-Mart discontinued their brand of my favorite candle Mango & Pineapple it broke my heart!

Why not make your own candles?
They do have kits you can buy which can be quite nifty but check this out.
It is cheap and easy !!

Let me know if this works for you.

CAUTION: Sit upon a deep dish to prevent tipping,
Never leave candles unattended or put to0 close to any furniture or flammable substances.

****To make perfect star shape you can use a permanent marker to draw the star and use a x-acto knife.

Fleas???? Ticks???

This Tips is for all you cat and dog lovers,

Summer is approaching and you love to let your indoor pets have a run outside, If you love to treat your pet like your baby (which most true animal lovers do) chances are you want to keep them healthy and happy.
What if a stray dog or cat comes into contact with your loved pet?  Or what if someone decides to not take care of their pet as much as you do and let them play in the park along with your dog? What if you come home only to see your furry loved one scratching furiously?

Oh NO FLEAS!!!!!!   Maybe it Ticks!!!!

Is probably what comes to mind….

Then you start to worry about how to get rid of them, what products will irritate your pet’s skin? Or products that promise to kill the fleas and somehow you find yourself scratching your legs or find one happily sucking at your ankles. You know you could buy that organic stuff they sell but you just paid your bills and your broke till next week. You definitely don’t want to let the fleas run rampant that long.

1. Fleas multiply fast. A female flea can produce 600 offspring in one month. A flea's life cycle from egg to larva to pupa to adult can be as short as 12 days or as long as 174 days, depending on temperature and humidity, says Candice Sousa, DVM, a veterinarian in Sacramento, Calif.  (source: Dogchannel.com)

Ticks spread other diseases. Deer ticks and western black-legged ticks carry Lyme disease, caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. The first sign of Lyme: A circular rash at the bite site, followed by lameness, fever, and lethargy. If caught early, antibiotics usually knock out the disease.  (source: Dogchannel.com)

Everyone who has had/has pets knows fleas/ticks can really suck (no pun intended) not to mention the health risk it can be to your human loved ones.
So here is a tip that I came across on Facebook. It is easy and it won’t irritate your pet’s skin. You more than likely have these things available in your home as well.

Hope this works for you....

Kindest Regards

Flea and Tick Remedy

8 oz apple cider vinegar
4 oz warm water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda

Mix dry ingredients first then slowly add to wet as the vinegar and baking soda will react slightly. Put into spray bottle and spray pets down. Be careful not to get in pets eyes.

* It is safe for any animal, apple cider vinegar has a shelf life of about 3-5 years so
I would assume you'd be fine to store it for a long time, just keep it out of direct
sunlight and it shouldn't spoil. As for application, if your pet if flea and tick free
then once a week, or after every bath. If they're infested, spray every couple days until infestation is gone, then do maintenance spraying of once a week or after every bath.

***** Also cedar chips in and around pet beds works to repel fleas and ticks.
